3-Day Sumatra Jungle Trekking Adventure

ITINERARY

DAY 1: KNO AIRPORT / MEDAN HOTEL – BUKIT LAWANG

Upon arriving at Kualanamu Airport or staying at a Medan hotel, we will pick you up and drive about 3 hours to Bukit Lawang. This small tourist village is on the edge of Gunung Leuser National Park, the most popular and easily accessible entrance to the park. Gunung Leuser National Park is one of the largest national parks, spanning over 800,000 hectares of virgin rainforest and home to the Sumatran orangutan, Sumatran tiger, Sumatran elephant, white-handed gibbon, and more. After check-in at the Bukit Lawang Hotel (which we will book for you), you can relax and prepare for the adventure ahead.

DAY 2: TWO DAYS JUNGLE TREKKING, STAYING IN THE JUNGLE CAMP

After breakfast, you will start a jungle trek to explore the national park. This 6-7 hour jungle walk offers opportunities to see Sumatran orangutans, gibbons, Thomas leaf monkeys, longtail and pigtail macaques, squirrels, Great Argus, and hornbills. The trek includes some ups and downs, and you might even encounter a wild orangutan. Enjoy a picnic with an Indonesian lunch pack prepared by our team. Your guide will explain various aspects of the rainforest, showing you different kinds of plants and flowers. Upon arrival at your campsite, learn about setting up camp and assist in building a fire to cook your dinner. Your local guide is skilled in camp cooking, and you will dine under the stars, surrounded by the eerie sounds of the jungle. Enjoy a fun night with games, tricks, snacks, tea, or coffee before sleeping.

DAY 3: JUNGLE TREK – BUKIT LAWANG – MEDAN / KNO AIRPORT

Good morning! When you wake up, the team will serve you a little snack with tea or coffee. Enjoy your jungle morning with the sounds of birds and gibbons, relax, swim, and savor your last day in Gunung Leuser National Park. After lunch, the jungle trek ends with a walk back to your accommodation. River tubing is an optional activity before we drive you back to Medan or KNO Airport.
