The Komodo Island Flores Tour from Bali, a 15-day journey, includes a sunrise visit to Kelimutu National Park, where three volcanic crater lakes display changing colors. Along the way, guests experience traditional weaving villages, local markets, and authentic Flores culture.

A Private 15-Day Expedition Through Flores’ Culture and Komodo’s Wild Coastlines

As the trip continues west, the landscape transforms into rolling hills, jungle valleys, and unique cultural regions such as Bajawa and Ruteng. The journey then reaches Labuan Bajo, the gateway to Komodo National Park. Here, guests board a private boat and begin a multi-day island exploration. Highlights include trekking on Padar Island for breathtaking panoramic views and visiting Komodo Island to see the legendary Komodo dragons in their natural habitat.

In addition, the experience includes relaxing at Pink Beach and snorkeling in crystal-clear waters rich with marine life. At Manta Point, travelers have the chance to swim with manta rays, one of the most unforgettable wildlife encounters in Indonesia.

This private expedition is designed for travelers who seek more than just a holiday. It is a complete exploration of Flores and Komodo, combining adventure, culture, and exclusive travel in one seamless itinerary.

Flight Information

This Private Flores and Komodo Tour from Bali follows a one-way route across Flores Island. Therefore, guests fly into Maumere in eastern Flores and return to Bali from Labuan Bajo in western Flores.

Bali to Maumere Flight

The tour begins with a domestic flight from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) in Bali to Frans Seda Airport (MOF) in Maumere.

Direct flights may not operate every day. Depending on the travel date and airline schedule, the journey may require a connection through Kupang, Makassar, or Labuan Bajo. We recommend arriving in Bali at least one day before the tour begins.

Labuan Bajo to Bali Flight

On Day 15, guests fly from Komodo International Airport (LBJ) in Labuan Bajo to I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) in Bali.

Direct flights usually operate on this route and generally take approximately one hour and 15 minutes. We will arrange the airport transfer according to the confirmed departure time.

International Flight Connections

Guests arriving from Europe, the United States, Australia, or other countries should plan at least one night in Bali before joining the tour. We also recommend staying overnight in Bali after the tour before taking an international flight.

This extra time helps protect your itinerary against domestic flight delays, cancellations, or schedule changes.

1. Is this Flores and Komodo tour completely private?

Yes. Private transportation, a local guide, airport transfers, and the Komodo boat journey are arranged exclusively for your group. However, some public attractions and trekking areas may have other visitors.

2. Where does the 15-day tour begin and end?

The journey begins in Bali with a flight to Maumere, eastern Flores. It ends with a flight from Labuan Bajo back to Bali.

3. What is the best time to take this tour?

The recommended travel period is from April to November, when Flores and Komodo generally experience drier weather. July and August are the busiest months, so early booking is essential.

4. Are domestic flights included?

Domestic flights can be included according to your selected package. We can arrange the Bali–Maumere and Labuan Bajo–Bali flights for a seamless journey. Please check your final quotation for the confirmed inclusions.

5. How difficult is the trek to Wae Rebo Village?

The Wae Rebo trek usually takes three to four hours each way. It follows a forest and mountain trail with several steep sections. A reasonable level of fitness and suitable trekking shoes are necessary.

6. What accommodation does the package provide?

The tour combines comfortable hotels, a simple guesthouse near Denge, one night in a traditional shared house at Wae Rebo, and accommodation aboard a private Komodo boat. Hotel and boat categories can be upgraded upon request.

7. Is the accommodation in Wae Rebo private?

No. Visitors normally sleep together inside a traditional Mbaru Niang house. Facilities are simple, and the bathroom is shared. This authentic stay forms an important part of the Wae Rebo cultural experience.

8. Do I need to know how to swim?

Strong swimming skills are not required for the cultural and overland sections. However, basic swimming ability will help you enjoy the snorkeling activities. Life jackets are available aboard the boat, and guests may remain on the boat if they prefer not to snorkel.

9. Can you guarantee sightings of Komodo dragons and manta rays?

No wildlife sighting can be guaranteed. Komodo dragons and manta rays live freely in their natural environments. Nevertheless, experienced local guides and boat crews will take you to the most suitable locations based on current conditions.

10. Is the tour suitable for children and older travelers?

The tour can suit active families and healthy older travelers. However, the long overland drives, Wae Rebo trek, early departures, and boat activities require good mobility. Please inform us about the participants’ ages and health conditions before booking.

11. What should I bring for the journey?

We recommend bringing:

  • Comfortable walking and trekking shoes

  • Lightweight clothing and a warm layer for the highlands

  • Swimwear and a change of dry clothes

  • Reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses

  • Insect repellent

  • A reusable water bottle

  • Personal medicines

  • A waterproof bag

  • Cash in Indonesian rupiah

12. Can you accommodate vegetarian or special dietary requirements?

Yes. Vegetarian meals and several other dietary requests can be arranged. Please inform us before booking because food choices may be limited in remote villages and aboard the boat.

13. Is Wi-Fi available throughout the tour?

Wi-Fi is available at selected hotels, but the connection may be slow or unavailable in remote areas. Wae Rebo and several parts of Komodo National Park have limited or no internet access.

14. How much luggage can I bring?

We recommend using a medium-sized suitcase or soft travel bag, plus a small backpack for Wae Rebo. Domestic airlines may apply baggage limits, while compact luggage is easier to handle aboard the boat.

15. How far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking at least three to four months in advance. For travel between June and August, booking four to six months earlier provides better availability for flights, hotels, guides, and private boats.

16. Can the itinerary be customized?

Yes. We can adjust the hotel category, boat type, travel pace, activities, and selected destinations. Extra nights in Bali, Labuan Bajo, or Flores can also be added.

17. What happens if weather affects the Komodo boat itinerary?

The captain may adjust the sailing route for safety. Weather, sea conditions, harbor regulations, and instructions from Komodo National Park authorities may affect the order of destinations. The crew will provide the safest available alternative whenever possible.

18. Do I need travel insurance?

Yes. We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering medical treatment, trip cancellation, flight disruption, trekking, snorkeling, boat travel, and emergency evacuation.
