Wake Up to the Sounds of the Sumatran Rainforest

As dawn breaks in the heart of the jungle, wake up to the natural symphony of birds, insects, and distant primate calls echoing through the trees. After a simple jungle-style breakfast, continue your trek deeper into Gunung Leuser National Park, discovering hidden trails, tropical plants, and more chances to spot wildlife in their untouched habitat. Guided by your experienced local ranger, learn about medicinal plants, jungle survival skills, and the delicate ecosystem that makes this rainforest one of the most important in the world. The second day offers a deeper connection to nature—raw, peaceful, and unforgettable.

Itinerary Sumatra Orangutan Jungle Trek

Day 1

Embark on an unforgettable jungle adventure in Bukit Lawang, where semiwild Orangutans, Thomas Leaf Monkeys, and long-tailed macaques await your discovery. Venture off the beaten track with your knowledgeable Jungle Guide, encountering up to 8 monkey species, gibbons, turtles, and the melodious peacock amidst the dense mountains.

Indulge in tropical fruit snacks, and hike to a breathtaking viewpoint overlooking the Bahorok River’s valley and Gunung Leuser National Park’s mountains. After a delicious nasi goreng lunch, trek to a riverside campsite for a refreshing dip and Orangutan sightings.

Enjoy tea, coffee, and cookies by the river, witness Orangutans nesting, and end the day with a cozy bonfire, homemade dinner, and jungle tales. Drift to sleep lulled by enchanting jungle melodies.

Around 9 am, after breakfast, your Jungle Guide will pick you up at your guesthouse. Follow him along the river and uphill through some rubber plantations to the entrance of Gunung Leuser National Park.

Day 2

Awaken amidst Gunung Leuser’s wildlife, enjoy a delightful breakfast before resuming your jungle trek. Opt for a scenic walk back or a thrilling river rafting adventure on rubber tires. Our “jungle taxi” ensures a fun ride back to Bukit Lawang by midday. Spend the afternoon indulging in activities or unwind in your hammock, reflecting on your jungle escapade.
