ITINERARY

DAY 1: MEDAN HOTEL/KNO AIRPORT—BUKIT LAWANG

The team driver will pick you up and transfer you from Medan (3 hours) or Kualanamu Airport (3 hours) to Bukit Lawang, including a private car, driver, and gasoline. Upon arrival at Bukit Lawang, check in to your hotel, including hotel accommodation with breakfast. Feel free to relax and enjoy the scenery from your hotel’s veranda. This ensures a comfortable and convenient start to your adventure in Bukit Lawang.

Day 2 and 3: Two days of jungle trekking, staying one NIGHT in the jungle camp.

After breakfast at 9:00 am, embark on a thrilling jungle trekking adventure to explore the national park. The jungle walk is not flat; there are ups and downs, but it offers a chance to encounter Sumatran orangutans and diverse tropical flora and fauna. Keep an eye out for gibbons, monkeys, squirrels, and hornbills; you might even spot a wild orangutan. Enjoy a picnic lunch with an Indonesian meal prepared by the team. Your guide will share insights about the rainforest and its plants.

Upon reaching the campsite, learn about setting up camp in the Sumatran jungle and assist in cooking dinner over a campfire. Your local guide is skilled in “camp cooking.” Dine under the stars, surrounded by the jungle’s sounds. The jungle trek includes 2xLunch, 1xDinner, and 1xBreakfast, with all camping equipment provided.

The trek concludes with a walk back to Bukit Lawang, where you can opt for an additional activity like river tubing (excluded). Enjoy free leisure time at Bukit Lawang Hotel, including hotel accommodation with breakfast. In the afternoon, take a scenic walk to the nearby local village, adding cultural enrichment to your adventure.

What to Bring?

Visiting a tropical rainforest in Gunung Leuser National Park promises a memorable experience because rainforests are biodiversity hotspots, hosting around half the world’s plant and animal species. They also provide a unique glimpse into the lives of indigenous people and their traditional ways of living. Rainforests are diverse in landscapes, found in mountain ranges, alongside rivers, and near beaches and coral reefs. This diversity offers opportunities for cultural exchange, adventure activities like hiking and fishing, relaxation, birdwatching, and wildlife spotting. So, exploring a rainforest is not just an adventure but also a chance to connect with nature and different cultures.

HOW SHOULD YOU PACK FOR A TRIP?
ALL YOU NEED TO PREPARE BEFORE STARTING A JUNGLE TREKKING!

Pack light T-shirts, long trousers, and socks for day treks, along with long-sleeved shirts or sweaters for evenings in the jungle. Bring extra clothes for overnight stays. Comfortable walking shoes and flip-flops are essential. Include a swimming suit, towel, and personal items. Don’t forget a raincoat, small backpack, sunscreen, mosquito repellent, toiletries, camera, phone, flashlight, and power bank. Personal medical care is a must. So, pack wisely to stay comfortable and prepared during your jungle trekking trip.

PLEASE NOTE: BUKIT LAWANG TOUR TREKKING OPERATOR IS NOT LIABLE FOR DAMAGES OR INJURIES SUFFERED AS A CONSEQUENCE OF ANYTHING THAT HAPPENED IN THE JUNGLE DUE TO THE NATURAL FORCE
