Gili Trawangan is the largest and most popular of the 3 Gilis, thanks to its well-established infrastructure that predates the other two islands in the group. Most of the local population live on Trawangan in settlements that stretch along its east side just inland. Automobile and motorized vehicle traffic is prohibited on the islands by local regulations, so the preferred method of transport is walking and cycling or horse-drawn carriages.
